Mama’s Pot Roast to bring pro improv group to campus

Last weekend, Mama’s Pot Roast hosted their annual Don’t Come to the Show Show. Gaining momentum, the group is spending this weekend hosting special guests all the way from Los Angeles: FrankenMatt.

FrankenMatt is an improv duo that consists of Frank Caeti and Matt Craig. Craig is a Wash. U. alum and former Pot Roaster who boasts an impressive resume. His sketch comedy and improv credits include performing at The Second City in Chicago, writing for “Saturday Night Live” and “The Office,” and acting for Disney Cruise Lines.

“We’re really excited because Matt is not only a Wash. U. alum but a Pot Roast alum [and has] gone on to do something that so many of us would love to be doing for a living,” senior Joanna McNurlen, a member of Mama’s Pot Roast, said. “Also they’re going to be really hilarious and who doesn’t love hilarious improv?”

He met his partner in crime, Caeti, in Chicago during the ’90s. After working together off and on in The Second City’s touring theater company, the pair united to form FrankenMatt. Their most recent show, American Imperil, balances satirical commentary on current politics with moments of two friends being silly together. American Imperil runs through April 27 in Hollywood.

In the meantime, FrankenMatt is touring the country, and they will be hanging out at alma mater (here) all Saturday, March 3. They will host a free improv workshop during the day and a performance at 8 p.m. in Brown 100. After the show, stick around to ask questions about starting a career in the comedy industry.
