Student Life wins 23 Missouri college newspaper awards

Student Life, the independent newspaper of Washington University, won 23 awards in the Missouri College Media Association 2013 Newspaper contest, the Missouri Press Association announced last week.

The contest honors excellence in collegiate journalism in the state of Missouri. The awards were announced at the annual MCMA meeting in Joplin, Mo. on April 20.

Student Life won the Division 1 Sweepstakes contest, where papers are awarded points for wins in the contest’s 26 categories. Four points was awarded for each first place finish, three points for second place, two points for third place and one for each honorable mention.

Student Life also finished second in the Best Overall Newspaper category, behind Missouri State University’s newspaper, The Standard, which also took home the Best In State award.
