Last weekend, they hosted their annual Don’t Come to the Show Show. Not slowing down, the group is spending this weekend hosting special guests all the way from Los Angeles: FrankenMatt. FrankenMatt is an improv duo that consists of Frank Caeti and Matt Craig. Craig is a Wash. U. alum and former Pot Roaster who boasts an impressive resume.
A year of weekly performances in a small dining room at Bear’s Den and annual shows featuring inebriated performers and full audiences donning mustaches has paid off for K.A.R.L. Improv.
Inside of a small, unassuming bar on Locust Street, up a narrow staircase and through a large doorway lies the heart of St. Louis’s improvisational comedy scene. The Improv Shop, located in the performance space above the Tin Can Tavern & Grille at 1909 Locust St., is working to build a healthy, thriving improv community in St. Louis.
K.A.R.L. Improv is bringing the Upright Citizen’s Brigade (UCB) Touring Company to Brown Hall 100 tonight. UCB has spawned the likes of Amy Poehler, “SNL” alum and star of the underrated NBC sitcom “Parks and Recreation”; “Scrubs” janitor Neil Flynn; Jack McBryer; the submissive, naïve Kenneth Parcells on “30 Rock”; and many “Daily Show” alums, including Ed Helms, Rob Corddry and Rob Riggle.
