A faculty committee will provide a non-binding recommendation on how WashU should respond to an Aug. 3 letter from the Department of Education (DOE) calling on universities to reform by the end of 2026, the University announced Wednesday.

The No. 19 WashU football team remains undefeated with a 31-24 road win over Wittenberg University, moving to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). With this game, the Bears notch their first 3-0 start since 2023, as well as their first NCAC away game victory.

Golf makes two holes-in-one in three days

Sophomore Jessy Young saw her ball land close to the hole, but she couldn’t tell where it ended up. She was staring into the sun, and she’d mishit her 9-iron on the 132-yard par-3 eighth hole. Then, her mother, who flew in from Atlanta to watch, started screaming. Young had made her first-ever hole-in-one.  Young’s ace on Sept. 15 was the second by a WashU golfer in less than a week. First-year Jessica Liu made a hole-in-one from 145 yards away with a 7-iron in a practice round at a different course, just three days before Young’s. Young was playing alongside […]

Staff Editorial: Secretary McMahon’s visit demonstrates WashU admin’s failure to include students in civic discourse

People our age use words and phrases without knowing their origins or true meanings, and that has deep implications for our ability to communicate, our relationships with one another, and what we consider “valuable” or “intelligent” language.

Opinion submission: I’m a cultural anthropologist and I do rigorous scholarship

I chose to study cultural anthropology because of its intense methodological rigor, intellectual depth, and political and intellectual self-scrutiny. I chose it because of its longstanding ethic of questioning social reality and what it means to be human with an unflinchingly honest lens.

Review: ‘Day and Night’ by Carly Rae Jepsen is good enough

Although “Day and Night” is a step down from the quality of Carly Rae Jepsen’s previous albums, the 24 songs are good enough individually. The key word being enough.

Close! But not quite: A review of beabadoobee’s latest album ‘Pylon’

Similar to the LaJoy’s matcha lattes (read: milk with matcha essence), beabadoobee’s newest album “Pylon” fell severely short of my expectations. Just as everyone at WashU seems to have the same closet, all the songs in “Pylon” could very well be each other’s doppelgangers.

Zach Cregger’s ‘Resident Evil’ captures the survival horror experience with a hero who’s just as scared as you

The new “Resident Evil” film by Zach Cregger, based on the video games of the same name, is a love letter to its namesake — but not the kind written on a fancy card.
