Feeding your first 30 days

There’s no shortage of options for eating on campus. Yet, most students end up finding something they like the first week and sticking with it the entire year. Your first 30 days will be key in establishing useful habits, so here are some new things to try you might otherwise have missed.

The Unpredictable Melodies of Non-Euclidean Geometry

In fall 2021, senior (then-sophomore) Spencer Kates had booked a show to play at the co-op, a local St. Louis venue. But there was an issue: he didn’t have a band. A few weeks earlier, he had played with senior Henry Windish and junior Evan Quigley at a Washington University musicians resource group jam session, and asked them to join. They were in, with the addition of Gabe Hamburg on Bass. So the four performed together, marking the first show of what’s known today as Non-Euclidean Geometry.

How Bear Studios is redefining student organizations, and coming out stronger

Bear Studios is not a normal club. You won’t find it on WUGO or on any other club listing because it’s not a club at all — it’s an independent LLC. It’s not a normal LLC either, staffed and led exclusively by students. For the past ten years, they have provided consulting services to over 180 companies mostly in the St. Louis area.  Utilizing their unique set of strengths and roles, Bear Studios continues to find new ways to innovate the industry.

“It’s a bittersweet moment,” says senior Carsen Codel, who’s new album “Drift Away,” released under the pseudonym c.rsn, releases Friday, Nov. 10 on all music streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Tidal, YouTube, Amazon Music, and SoundCloud.

Not just dealt a good hand: WashU Bridge Club’s strategic success 

Washington University Bridge Club has made a name for itself nationally. They’re ranked second in the country, and the team has found success due to a farsighted and distinctly inclusive strategy. In fact, WashU Bridge doesn’t even set out to win tournaments —instead, it takes a unique approach to bridge that emphasizes the game’s cooperative aspects.
