WashU still maintains a slim lead over the rest of the University Athletic Association (UAA) with a 4-2 conference record. Although recently, the Bears have had their mix of ups and downs as they have lost two of their last three games.
Despite a streak-snapping loss against the University of Rochester on Oct. 24, the Bears delivered a massive win on the road against No. 4 Emory University on Oct. 26.
So far this year, the team is crushing its conference competition, holding sole possession of first place in the conference and boasting three wins against conference opponents in as many games.
With a hat trick, Wirtschafter led WashU to a 4-0 victory over the No. 12 ranked Judges. WashU men’s soccer has been firing on all cylinders recently as they extend their win streak to eight games, with two huge wins in the past week.
Rain or shine, the No. 12 WashU men’s soccer team has shown it can compete with any team in Division III. WashU defeated regionally ranked opponent Wheaton College in a stormy showdown at home on Sept. 20.
It’s hard to have a better start to a season than the WashU men’s soccer team has had in its first few games. The team has won five out of its first six games, including two crucial victories over Rhodes College and No. 7 North Park University on Sept. 12 and 16.
