Do you remember being inundated with photos, news clips, tweets and Facebook statuses? It was the hottest issue at the time, the most important thing that people were talking about. No, I’m not referring to Bristol Palin’s planned visit during SHAC’s Sex Week earlier this year. I’m talking about the largest accidental oil spill ever to occur.

Katz’s dismissal

Dear Editor, Just after the last Student Life edition in spring, it was reported that WU Physics Professor Jonathan Katz was removed from a U.S. Department of Energy scientific team working on the oil spill due to his outspoken, self-proclaimed homophobia. The commercial press noted that his removal has drawn criticism from some conservatives.
