56 minutes and 57 seconds had ticked by, and the tightly contested game between Washington University and the College of Wooster came down to an extra point attempt. The ball was snapped and held upright. The kick that could tie the game late in the fourth quarter was pushed wide right, giving the Bears a come-from -behind 14-13 victory on the road.
The College of Wooster had already been stopped on their previous two trips inside the red zone. Faced with a fourth and one at the 30-yard line, time running out, and an inspired Washington University defense in the way, another stop seemed probable.
The Washington University football team suffered its third straight loss, falling 38-13 on the road, to the College of Wooster. The game was played in front of a crowd of 3,450 as Wooster’s homecoming game.
