The No. 17 Washington University women’s tennis team overcame season-ending injuries to two of its top players to go 2-1 over the weekend. After taking two of three doubles matches against No. 30 Trinity University, the Bears saw the Tigers win four of six singles matches to pull off the 5-4 upset on Friday.

WU offers fan bus to NCAA tournament

Washington University is offering students free transportation, lodging and tickets to the 2011 Division III NCAA Women’s Basketball Championships at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill. The No. 12 Bears face host and No. 7 Illinois Wesleyan in the second national semifinal on Friday night. Wash. U. fell to the Titans 73-68 on Nov. 20 at the Tip Off Tournament.

Bears advance to national semifinal

The Washington University women’s basketball is heading to the national semifinal game of the Division III NCAA Women’s Basketball Championship for the third consecutive season. The defending national champions fought back from an early 11-2 deficit to defeat No. 6 University of Chicago 63-58 on the campus of Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Ky.

The Washington University women’s basketball team defeated Hope College 56-52 on Saturday night on Hope’s campus in Holland, Mich., to reach the third round of the 2011 Division III NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament.

Relay for Life to take place outside

Francis Field will host Washington University’s Relay for Life. The steering committee of this year’s Relay at the University announced that the event will proceed as originally planned. The Athletic Complex had been designated the alternate venue in the event of inclement weather.
