Dear Editor, A few weeks ago, I went on a tour of St. Louis with the teacher of Community Building, Building Community, Bob Hansman. I appreciated his knowledge and experience behind his words along the leafy trail that was once a neighborhood. Hansman, if you did not know, is the source of all knowledge socioeconomic and racial in urban St. Louis.

Challa declared first female Mr. Wash. U.

On Jan. 18, Washington University celebrated the life of Martin Luther King, Jr. with a ceremony in Graham Chapel that truly commemorated King’s legacy by bringing his spirit to life. This powerful event centered around the stirring remarks of Professor Robert Hansman, recipient of the Rosa L. Parks award for Meritorious Service to the Community.

The dream and the reality

I just got back from the Martin Luther King Jr. celebration in Graham Chapel and was deeply moved by professor Bob Hansman’s remarks about the true meaning of King’s life. For those who missed it, Professor Hansman reminded us that King was not a mere dreamer and proponent of conciliation, but a fierce and often critical advocate of true justice.
