As part of ASA’s annual Africa Week, they hosted “Taste of Africa,” an event where students discovered the vibrant flavors of Africa. This event marked the end of Africa Week, a period dedicated to celebrating the diversity of African culture. The theme for this year’s Africa Week was Inkululeko, meaning freedom, empowerment, and the future of Africa.
The African Students Association will host “From Tunis to Cape Town,” the 12th annual Africa Week, Oct. 27-Nov. 2, furthering the organization’s commitment to representing the entire African continent.

The African Students Association wants to show the Washington University campus that there is a lot more to Africa than the stereotypes and myths that many students believe. This year’s Africa Week, taking place this week, is titled “Myths and Legends.” The main event will be at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at Edison Theatre, where the West African dance company Afriky Lolo will present “Sundiata: The King of Mali.
