Laughter roared, applause erupted, and delighted “oohs” rippled through Edison Theatre during Carnaval this past Friday (March 28) and Saturday (March 29). The Carnaval Executive Board and Washington University’s Association of Latin American Students (ALAS) co-hosted the Carnaval showcase, a yearly celebration of Latine culture.

The annual African Students Association’s (ASA) fashion show took place this past Saturday, Feb. 22. This year’s show, “Leral”, promotes African Iridescence: The Vibrancy Of Heritage.

Vibrant colors, exciting acts, and lively music will soon light up the stage at Edison Theater this Friday (Jan. 31) and Saturday (Feb. 1) when students take center stage for the Lunar New Year Festival (LNYF), a yearly celebration of East Asian and Southeast Asian cultures.

As part of ASA’s annual Africa Week, they hosted “Taste of Africa,” an event where students discovered the vibrant flavors of Africa. This event marked the end of Africa Week, a period dedicated to celebrating the diversity of African culture. The theme for this year’s Africa Week was Inkululeko, meaning freedom, empowerment, and the future of Africa.
