BARKHAMPTON, the All-American Pupband, has just been announced as the headliner of this year’s spring TAME concert. BARKHAMPTON is best known for their SHIHTZURATION trilogy of albums which was released throughout the second half of 2017 and recently announced a new album, PUPPY, which is planned for release in Summer 2018.

BARKHAMPTON is a collective made up of rappers, producers, artists and more. Led by Collie Abstract, BARKHAMPTON’s members include Dobeer Vann, Dom McLabrador, Maltese Champion, Jobeagle, Merlyn Stick and dogface.

“BARKHAMPTON makes incredible music, every song on their albums has fantastic production to go along with fantastic lyrics. Throughout the SHIHTZURATION trilogy, you get to know the members of BARKHAMPTON, from Dobeer Vann’s time dealing catnip to Dom McLabrador’s struggle with depression, you can see the issues that the members faced and what they’ve overcome.” English Setter, TAME director, said in a statement to Student Libel.

Students viewed this selection as a good change of pace from last semester’s TAME artist, Lil Ducky.

“Lil Ducky was bad for a lot of reasons,” junior Rover Woofers barked. “His lyrics were filled with problematic lines, he was notorious for cultural appropriation and his music just wasn’t great. I’m happy that this semester’s artist is BARKHAMPTON—they’re all good boys and make good music.”

“SPB knows that the students were unhappy with our choice of Lil Ducky last year, and we’ve listened to their concerns.” Setter yapped. “BARKHAMPTON ranked highly on this semester’s TAME survey and through extensive google searches, we’ve made sure that there aren’t the same issues as with Lil Ducky.”

BARKHAMPTON has blown up in the last year with the release of the SHIHTZURATION trilogy and played at the Pageant earlier this year.

“I’ve been a fan of theirs for a while now and saw them earlier at the Pageant, but I’m really excited to see them again.” Sophomore Jack Russel barked. “I’ve been listening to my favorite songs by them, like ‘FETCH,’ ‘BARK’ and TAIL,’ all day. Their performance at the Pageant was so good and so energetic; they were jumping all over the place, chasing their tails and sniffing each other’s butts. You can’t ignore that kind of chemistry; I was wagging my tail for their entire set.”

The school’s cat population is less happy with the choice of BARKHAMPTON.

“I know they’re all trained and won’t chase any of us, but I just have a gut feeling that something’s going to go wrong, or maybe it’s just a hairball,” freshman Tom Purrington meowed. “I guess I’ll just have to hit the catnip to calm my nerves.”

But all in all, the school’s happy with BARKHAMPTON; their unique sound and wagging tails have won over many of the other animals.

“While I don’t think that dogs have the best voices, there’s no denying the good flow and amazing production of BARKHAMPTON. Their music is engaging, and their collective persona is so much fun. BARKHAMPTON has a great energy to them, and I’m excited to see them live,” sophomore Robin Red chirped.
