If you have ever wondered what a rave on Old MacDonald’s farm would sound like, look no further than horsegiirL’s new EP, “HARDCORE HEALINGS.” The record is a perfectly crafted spiritual awakening delivered through 15 minutes of electronic dance anthems.
Though much is unknown about the true identity of the German DJ, dedicated horsegiirL fans, also known as Farmies, do know that she does not horse around when it comes to finding inner peace. Her debut album, “NATURE IS HEALING,” was an ode to Mother Earth and all of her majesty. Now, on “HARDCORE HEALINGS,” horsegiirL pivots her attention to celebrate the restorative properties of the dabce floor through an exploration of love and community. Throughout, the EP unfolds like a guided meditation in the club: Heavy bass sets the pace for your heartbeat, while pitched-up vocals serve as mantras.
On the opening track, “key2luv,” horsegiirL beckons listeners, “Come with me. Take my hand. Don’t be scared. Let’s transcend.” If you dare follow this majestic mare, what follows is an enlightening journey that will make you gallop to the dance floor and raise the roof of the barnyard.
Three brilliant collaborations give the EP an extra layer of energy. The hook of “c*ntry girl rock,” co-produced with hyperpop royalty Dylan Brady, is an undeniable earworm. “Have u eva” and “lonely2night,” featuring Cannelle and Rocket Rese, are equally infectious and proof that horsegiirL’s barn is big enough for everyone.
“HARDCORE HEALINGS” is a showcase of what horsegiirL does best: delivering transcendence through techno. Beneath her powerful synths and campy farm-animal persona, her music is ultimately a beautiful celebration of unity, love, and playfulness.
