An attempted armed robbery was reported at the 6300 block of McPherson Avenue at approximately 11:15 p.m. March 10.

Both Washington University Police Department officers and University City Police responded to the incident. WUPD later sent a security memo to the student body about the attempt at approximately 10 a.m. March 11.

According to the memo, a Washington University faculty member and his wife were walking down McPherson Avenue when a male subject passed them, turned around and displayed a handgun. The subject then demanded property from them. When they said they had no valuables, the subject fled the area.

No injuries were reported. The University City Police Department is currently investigating the incident.
