Boy bands that need to make a comeback (alongside the Jonas Brothers)

Sabrina Spence | Staff Writer

There is one thing the world will always have too many of and not enough of at the same time: boy bands. A good boy band is timeless and their music sticks with you. Oftentimes, you might think of them and wonder “Where did they go? What happened to boy band xyz?” Sometimes, these boy bands come into our lives for a season and then disappear without a trace and others stay around for little while. The Jonas Brothers got back together and released “Sucker,” one of the—if not the best—song I have heard all month, even though the month just started. The JoBros left us high and dry in 2013 and jumped back into our lives with a banger. In honor of this long-awaited and much-appreciated reunion, I have compiled a list of boy bands who should make a comeback, and as a little refresher, I have included one of their most popular songs. In the context of this article, a boy band is not defined by genre or sound, it is simply a band made up entirely of boys.

Allstar Weekend – “Not Your Birthday”

Allstar Weekend came in to our lives in 2010 and gave us three wonderful albums and a splattering of singles before promptly exiting our lives in 2013, never to be heard from again. An Allstar Weekend comeback would see more songs like “Not Your Birthday,” a true bop to define all bops. The lyric, “this song is for everyone who it ain’t your birthday/ You gotta party like it’s not, party like it’s not” is a call to action, and a call I think we should all take.

Honor Society – “Where Are You Now”

This four-person boy band really had my heart. I thought they were the coolest boys to ever have a song downloaded on my cracked iPod Touch back in the day. From 2006-2013, Honor Society released their debut album in 2009 and they were the opening act for the Jonas Brothers World Tour that same year. Obviously, this means that Honor Society should follow the Jonas Brothers’ lead and make a comeback. It would be much appreciated.

The Click Five – “Just The Girl”

The Click Five was just really emo—they had the bangs, the skinny ties, the matching black suits. They had the makings of a really great boy band whose lyrics would understand any girl in her scene/emo phase. Their single, “Just The Girl,” was released in 2005 and is one of their best songs. As the scholars say, this song is a “bop and a half” and deserves to be played at all parties, all get-togethers and on every playlist.

The Cab – the entire “Symphony Soldier” album

This entire album slaps. That’s really all there is to it. They released an EP, “Lock Me Up,” in 2014 and have been on hiatus ever since. This band needs to come off of their hiatus and bring the world more music because “Symphony Soldier” is one of the best albums to ever exist. It’s complex, it’s full of bops and it can be listened to over and over and over again. Every song on this album is a good one and a band that can do that, deserves to be recognized and needs to come off of their hiatus.

One Direction

We all miss One Direction. They’re doing well solo, but Directioners everywhere miss them together. They had to go on this list. It would be a sin to not put them here.
