WashU student-athletes receive a mental health resident for the school year

On June 20, 2023, Washington University announced that the athletic department will receive a mental health resident dedicated to supporting all university varsity athletes for the 2023-2024 academic year. This move is part of an ongoing doctoral training program aimed at expanding mental health programs for WashU students.

Former WashU football player signs with the Seahawks

This summer, Whitaker –a 2021  graduate of WashU– signed a professional contract with the NFL franchise Seattle Seahawks after spending some time playing for the Houston Roughnecks in the XFL. On Tuesday, Aug. 8, Whitaker was waived/injured after suffering a knee injury at a mock game.

“Second place finish only makes us hungrier”: Golf finishes as runner-up at NCAA Championship

The Washington University women’s golf team finished second at the 2023 NCAA Division III Championships, putting a team score of 938 behind George Fox University who won the title with score of 933. The finish was the highest in program history for the Bears.

“Going into races.., you really have nothing to lose”: WashU club swim shines at nationals

“We had several swimmers make finals [and] several swimmers score points,” junior Koji Barrette, President of the WashU Swim Club, said. “We placed 27th [compared to] last year when we placed 78th. So, big jump. But I think [that] most of all, we’ve really grown as a team, both in size and [in] camaraderie, and we’ve just had a really successful season.”

Men’s track finishes second at UAA Championship

The Bears’ impressive performances were led by the likes of senior Aboyomi Awoyomi, who won the triple jump crown by hitting a mark of 14.31 meters. A 4x400M medley team of senior Marcus-Jay Wilkes, junior Alex Djetto, senior Jackson Cox, and graduate student Arthur Santoro took home the relay crown, finishing the race with a time of 3:17.29.

SIX-PEAT: No. 3 Women track claims 6th straight UAA title, sets a charge on a national crown

Over the weekend, the No. 3 Washington University women’s track and field team won the 2023 University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Championship on Sunday afternoon with 253.50 points. The University of Chicago finished second place at 228.50

Softball bests Carnegie Mellon in a four-game series

“This is just what this team is capable of doing,” sophomore Maggie Baumstark said after the WashU softball team’s two-game sweep against Carnegie Mellon University Saturday, April 8. “[There are] lot of different reasons why [we haven’t been playing like this], but this is how we know we can play. So it feels good to just be ourselves again.”
