With the victory, WashU handed the Violets their second loss of the season in a closely fought game, dropping them to 1-1 in University Athletic Association (UAA) conference play and bringing the Bears to 3-0.
The Washington University softball team had two doubleheaders against Brandeis on Friday and Saturday this past weekend. In the first double-header, WashU and Brandeis split the wins.
The Washington University softball team took an impressive sweep of the Emory University Eagles this past weekend. The Bears dominated the four-game series, winning each game as a team to stay comfortably No. 3in the UAA. With the four wins on the weekend, the Bears’ overall record now stands at 17-15, with a mark of 9-7 in conference play.
“This is just what this team is capable of doing,” sophomore Maggie Baumstark said after the WashU softball team’s two-game sweep against Carnegie Mellon University Saturday, April 8. “[There are] lot of different reasons why [we haven’t been playing like this], but this is how we know we can play. So it feels good to just be ourselves again.”
