New cable channel reaches for youth audience

In the beginning of an ad for Pivot, a disembodied voice says, “Maybe our generation will really change things.” This is the foundation of the new cable TV channel, which launched Aug. 1. Featuring original programming by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Meghan McCain, the channel is hoping to appeal to the environmentally conscious and socially liberal youth market.

Students unfazed by Gordon-Levitt rescheduling to Tuesday

Students are still excited for actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s appearance on campus, despite a change in date announced less than a week before the event. The event was originally planned for Thursday but has been moved up to Tuesday.

The man who kissed Ellen Page and wooed Zooey Deschanel on screen will be bringing his boyish charm to Washington University. Congress of the South 40’s decision to host an interactive event with actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt has been greeted by a surge of student interest since the announcement was made last Thursday.

‘50/50’

“50/50” is a movie about a 27-year-old guy who gets cancer. It stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Adam, the guy with cancer. Seth Rogen plays his friend and Anna Kendrick plays his pretty young shrink. Sadly, that’s all you need to know to figure out exactly how the movie goes.

Oscar, please consider…

On Tuesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will announce their nominations for the 82nd annual Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars. This year’s nominations are particularly notable as it will be the first year the Best Picture category has 10 nominees instead of the usual five.
