The WashU track and field teams kicked off the second half of their season with a strong performance at the John Craft Invitational, hosted by Eastern Illinois University on Jan. 18. Competing against a mix of Division I and II programs, the Bears showcased their depth and talent across track and field events.
Student Life sat down with Lichtenberger to discuss his life outside of pole vaulting, his love for track and field, and his future goals.
The Washington University men’s track and field team competed at the 2024 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on March 8 and 9. The team, which won the meet in 2022, had three athletes compete and finished tied for 43rd place with Benedictine University and the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point.
WashU’s women’s track and field team won the UAA indoor track and field championship, their fifth consecutive conference title.
Over spring break, the Washington University women’s track and field team placed second at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field National Championship. They were narrowly edged out of first place after Williams College surged ahead on the final day of competition. The men’s track and field team placed fifth.
The team had a successful showing at Saturday’s Titan First Chance meet in Bloomington, Ill., heading into winter break on a high note. Event organizers did not calculate team scores on Saturday, but the Bears did rack up four first place finishes and a number of personal records.
The Washington University men’s track and field team clinched its 16th UAA title at the conference indoor championships this weekend at Case Western Reserve University. The women, meanwhile, finished second to the University of Chicago.
