Coming off a loss against Carnegie Mellon University, the WashU women’s basketball team went 2-0 for their last regular season home games of the year, defeating the University of Rochester and Emory University on Feb. 21 and 23.

Despite losing three straight games two weeks ago, the No. 18 WashU men’s basketball team has found their groove again with five straight wins as they near the end of the regular season. WashU defeated the University of Rochester 78-48 and No. 7 Emory University 85-75 on Feb. 21 and 23, respectively.

The No. 19 WashU men’s basketball took to the road to end their three-game losing streak, defeating both Case Western Reserve University 86-68 and Carnegie Mellon University 78-54 on Feb. 14 and 16. The Bears are now 17-6 overall and 7-4 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play.

Coming off of a three-game losing streak, the WashU women’s basketball team went 1-1 on the road, battling in close games against Case Western Reserve University and Carnegie Mellon University. The Bears narrowly beat the Case Western Spartans 62-61 but fell to the Carnegie Mellon Tartans 76-70, leaving the team 5-6 in conference play. 

During a weekend on the road, the WashU women’s basketball team fell to Brandeis University 68-57 and No. 1 New York University 77-58 on Feb. 7 and 9. The Bears are now 4-5 in conference play and 13-7 overall. 

The No. 10 WashU men’s basketball team faced a challenging weekend in conference play, losing to Brandeis University and No. 3 New York University in back-to-back road losses on Feb. 7 and 9. Despite strong individual performances, the Bears struggled to keep pace with two of the conference’s top teams, dropping to 15-5 overall and 5-4 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play as the regular season enters its final stretch.

In a weekend full of conference play, the WashU women’s basketball team dominated against Brandeis University, defeating the Judges 74-50 on Jan. 31. However, the Bears lost 80-46 to the  reigning national champions, No. 1 New York University on Feb. 2.

On Feb. 26, 2022, two months after he graduated from WashU, Justin Hardy subbed into WashU’s final regular season game against The University of Chicago. Weak from months of chemotherapy, he dribbled down the court and scored the Bears’ final points of the game. When the final buzzer went off, WashU and Chicago players embraced Hardy in what would be his last game for the Bears.

After starting the season with a record of 1-2 in University Athletic Association (UAA) play, which saw the Bears fall from No. 13 to unranked in Division III standings, the WashU women’s basketball team fought for two straight conference victories this past weekend. On Jan. 24, the Bears defeated the University of Rochester 86-76, and two days later, they traveled down to Atlanta, beating Emory University 67-56. WashU is now 3-2 in UAA play as they reach the halfway point of their two-month stretch of consecutive conference games.

The No. 11 WashU men’s basketball team traveled along the East Coast this past weekend, beating the University of Rochester 99-82 on Jan. 24 and No. 2 Emory University 81-63 on Jan 26. The win over the Emory Eagles marks the first victory for the Bears against a Top 10 team this season.
