Washington University was ranked number one in this year’s edition of the Princeton Review’s list of the “Best College Dorms.”
After a sprinkler pipe in College Hall froze and burst Jan. 16—causing a significant flood—College Hall will be closed off and under repair until at least Feb. 16.
Hungry students filled College Hall last night for 2012’s post-poll party. The party, co-sponsored by Congress of the South 40 and Student Union, opened with a panel of three students speaking about the significance voting had to them.
Members of Washington University’s Pride Alliance put on a drag show Saturday night to present LGBTQIA issues to the general public. The event, which began at 8 p.m. in College Hall, was free to the public, with a $5 donation request to fund future Pride Alliance events. Pride Alliance aims to deal with advocacy and queer issues in a social and educational context.
Students came to campus this year to find a new look on the South 40. New buildings include College Hall and a new Bear’s Den dining facility, as well as the completion of the South 40 House.
Long tables, high ceilings, colored banners and spirited traditions in a formal dining hall may sound more Harry Potter than Washington University, but this fall, students may find plenty of Hogwarts comparisons to make at College Hall.
South 40 residents moved back to campus this August to find the first phase of construction in the area finished and the second part already underway. With move-in day quickly approaching, Washington University administrators say construction of the long-awaited Umrath Hall and Wohl Center on the South 40 is going as planned.
