History says St. Louis fans should cheer against the Patriots

On second thought, St. Louisans, the Patriots are the enemy this year; Boston teams have so battered their St. Louis counterparts in recent years that everyone in our area should be rooting against the Patriots come Sunday.

The Next Marathon

It’s been mere hours since someone (or someones) took the lives of strangers into their hands for reasons that cannot possibly be justified. And I’ve found that despite my well-practiced cynicism, there’s still a nerve, a sliver of sentimentality in me that can be pinched and leave me gasping. It’s there for the obvious reason that this time, it was my city on TV.

How America reacts to tragedy

We will probably never understand the Boston Marathon bomber’s motivation. The person or group responsible for the horrific bombings that killed three people and injured over 150 more will eventually be caught and will be asked the inevitable question: Why? Was it a political act? Was it a protest? Or was it the work of a pure sociopath?

There’s no shortage of bands named after locations—Beirut, Chicago, Kansas or Asia, for example—but no geographically-minded group has ever matched the success of Boston. This rock group began in the basement of guitarist Tom Scholz, a senior production designer for Polaroid with degrees from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
