Artist and architect Maya Lin spoke on how her career began, habitat extinction and the connection between art and architecture to around 100 students in Graham Chapel Thursday.

A new documentary film, “The American Artist: The Life & Times of George Caleb Bingham,” screened at the Saint Louis Art Museum (SLAM) on Sunday, Nov. 6. The film tells the story of Bingham’s artistic and political life, introducing his relatively unknown work to the general public and elevating him to the level of American classics such as Gilbert Stuart and Thomas Hart Benton.

Every student at Washington University has the opportunity to see the sculptures located around campus daily, but not every student knows the stories behind the pieces.

It is one of the most famous works of art at Washington University, but its not housed at the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museum.
