Comedian Nick Kroll will be performing on campus as part of CPC’s comedy series.

The Campus Programming Council will be bringing comedian Nick Kroll to campus for its Spring Comedy Show on April 19.

Kroll, who is best known for his role as attorney Rodney Ruxin on “The League,” will be performing in Graham Chapel.

“I’m very excited for him to come. We watched his hour-long special on Comedy Central, and we thought he was the best one we saw who we had on our list, so we’re pretty excited for him to come,” said sophomore and CPC comedy co-chair Grant Smith.

Although few students are familiar with Kroll’s work, many are excited to see him perform live.

“I have been to [CPC’s] comedy shows in the past, and I’m definitely going,” senior Zack Pinsky. “I don’t know the comedian, but based on his credentials, I am sure it will be a good show.”

Other students say they will go to the show because they have enjoyed prior shows.

“I went to the John Oliver’s show, and it was really funny. I was not familiar with John Oliver before…but I really enjoyed the show. I would go to this one based on past experience,” said senior Anna Moseley

Smith says CPC is pleased with their decision to pick someone who is not very well known.

“What we go for is an up-and-coming person and someone who is really just getting a grasp and becoming a little bit more famous,” Smith said.

CPC hosts two comedy shows annually. The fall show usually features a well-known comedian. Past fall comedians have included Oliver and Seth Meyers. The spring show is dedicated to up-and-coming performers. Last year, “Community” actor Donald Glover performed in the spring show

“The spring comedy show is great because it showcases someone instead of in the fall when it is more of a big name everyone knows. It showcases someone who you’ve seen their face and not really seen or heard their name,” Smith said.

Kroll also has a Comedy Central special called “Thank You Very Cool,” voices the character Stu in the HBO series “The Life & Times of Tim,” and has recurring roles on the shows “Childrens Hospital” and “Parks and Recreation.”
