For a long time, it was practically a requirement for anyone who was into indie rock to like Arcade Fire. Every self-respecting hipster had a copy of “Neon Bible” tucked away somewhere. And leaving aside the paradox of being a widely known indie band, Arcade Fire still rocks. On Thursday, for the first time since they were a lowly opening act at the Firebird back in 2004, they’re coming to St. Louis.

The show will cover mostly songs from “The Suburbs,” the band’s grammy-award winning 2010 release. The songs tend to have more mellow, melodic beats rather than the intensity previous albums had, but songs from “The Suburbs” should still make for a great show, especially when accompanied by all the elaborate production values of an arena rock concert. Make sure to get there in time to catch opening act The National—as a headliner at The Pageant this fall, the band proved it could hold its own, but come check out how The National will do on the big stage.
