Defend the Standard: WashU’s unique approach to uniting athletes

Despite WashU’s three national championship wins in the 2024-2025 school year, the Athletics Department has unveiled a new motto for the 2025-26 school year for the fifth time in as many years: “Defend the Standard.” The tradition of the Athletics Department’s annual motto was established in 2020 with “United Pursuit” to bring students and coaches together after the pandemic.

Baseball falls short in regional round of NCAA tournament

While the Bears were able to win the first game of the tournament on Friday, May 16, in walk-off fashion against Ohio Northern, they fell to Wisconsin–Whitewater in an extra-inning thriller on Saturday, May 17, and subsequently were eliminated by the host team, Adrian College, later in the afternoon.

Stevenson throws second no-hitter in program history as baseball takes two out of three against Maryville

There is nothing that signifies the coming of spring in St. Louis quite like Bears baseball on a sunny weekend at Kelly Field. WashU played Maryville College for the first time in program history on March 22-23, winning two out of three games in this non-conference matchup. Sophomore Townsend Stevenson made history by throwing the second singular no-hitter in program history in the Bears’ dominant 16-0 victory in the first game.
