Graduate student Jack Nolan hit a three-pointer as time expired to give the Bears a 52-51 win.
The Bears fell in the first round to Carnegie Mellon University, putting them in the consolation bracket and defeating any hopes of making the NCAA tournament.
In his first season of action at WashU, Rush has posted a 65.3% completion percentage and a 148.6 passer rating.
The win represented a rebound for WashU after a tough loss to the University of Chicago in their season opener, as the Bears brought their record to 1-1.
“I believe and this team believes that we can win a championship this year,” sophomore Abhi Ramireddy said.
The team is nearing the end of the regular season, and they have high hopes for the postseason.
