On Saturday, April 4, WU Cypher turned Risa Commons into a battleground. Spectators formed a circle, crying out with astonishment.
The WashU Film Club had just finished recording for their new rom-com short film, “Meant to Be.” Although shooting began that Friday afternoon, in many ways, the making of this film began over a year before.
Junior Nicole Backal, director and writer of “Meant to Be” and PR chair of the Film Club, said that the idea for this film came to her over winter break in 2024.
It is nearing the end of the semester, and for many students here at WashU, the deadline for final papers is fast approaching. Originally, WUTV emerged in 2011 after breaking off from WUnderground. During the following years, WUTV gained prominence on campus, even claiming a designated room in the Harvey Media Center designed exclusively for the club. But the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019 led WUTV to close up shop while the school took a temporary break.
With a mid-sized ensemble consisting of a harpsichord, three wind instruments, and 13 string instruments, Tafelmusik made an appearance at 560 Music Center, March 3.
