For the first time in 27 years, the Washington University men’s soccer program has a new head coach. Months after Joe Clarke announced his retirement in late November after nearly three decades at the helm, WashU Athletics announced Andrew Bordelon as his successor and the seventh head coach in the program’s history in a statement on March 7.
This was not the first time the Washington University women’s soccer team exited Francis Field with tears running down their face—but on Sunday afternoon, the players were crying tears of joy.
Coming off of a season-opening loss to Division I Southeast Missouri State University ready to open the Division III season, the Washington University women’s soccer team won both its contests this weekend 1-0. The Bears defeated #15 Calvin College on Friday and University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Sunday.
