With a 2-1 road victory over conference foe New York University on Sunday, the Washington University men’s soccer team positioned itself better for an at-large bid into the NCAA Tournament. An 86th-minute goal by freshman midfielder/back Jake Shapiro, assisted by freshman midfielder Grant Baltes, gave Wash. U. the lead for good.
The fifth-ranked Washington University women’s soccer team extended its undefeated streak to nine games Tuesday evening when it defeated Central Region foe Principia College 2-0 at Francis Field. With the win, senior Clara Jaques set a school record with her 24th career shutout.
After another weekend of University Athletic Association (UAA) play, the Washington University men’s soccer team remains in the same position in conference standings they entered with—one point behind conference leader New York University, tied for second place with Emory University.
Continuing its in-conference play, the University Athletic Association-leading Washington University women’s soccer team defeated Case Western Reserve University 1-0 on Friday, Oct. 15 and tied No. 25 University of Rochester 0-0 on Sunday, Oct. 17.
