Show Me Showdown: A springboard for development for swimming and diving

The Bears finished near the middle of the pack at the Show Me Showdown at the University of Missouri on Friday. For a team consistently near the top of the rankings in Division III, not earning a podium finish would appear to be rare territory. However, against the high-level, multi-divisional competition, that finish is something to be proud of.

At a swim meet featuring NCAA Division I schools such as University of Missouri, Saint Louis University and Missouri State University, the Washington University men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams combined to finish sixth out of 11 schools at the Show-Me Showdown on Friday in Columbia, Mo.

In a meet that brought in Missouri’s best college swimmers, the Washington University swim and dive teams were able to hold their own and come away with some good results.

Bears face tough competition at Show-Me Showdown

The Washington University swimming and diving teams squared off against some of the best talent in the state this past weekend. In the annual Show-Me Showdown on Oct. 8, hosted by the University of Missouri on Oct. 8, the Bears faced six other in-state teams. “It is a very competitive meet,” head coach Brad Shively said.
