Former Washington University men’s soccer player Sergio Rivas is up and running in the Major League Soccer NextPro league after signing a professional contract with St. Louis City FC in mid-February.

The Bears will face the University of Wisconsin-Superior in the first round of the playoffs Saturday.

Rivas may be a machine on the field, but off the soccer pitch, he is an economics major who will never turn down a game of chess.
