“Imposters” is not great by any means, but it’s definitely more fun and lighthearted than most of the other crazy-heavy Netflix mystery/crime series. It’s a fun watch if you’re looking for mediocre TV.
This week’s Deep Cut is The Birdcage, a film based off the French farce “La Cage Aux Folles,” starring Robin Williams and Nathan Lane.
Band of Robbers, directed by Aaron and Adam Nee, is a modern retelling of Mark Twain’s The Adventures of Tom Sawyer. In this version, Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer are all grown up, total scamps, and still obsessed with finding Murrell’s Treasure.
The coolest thing about “Obvious Child” is its grounded authenticity. This is the story of a crisis—one that is life-changing, but not life-ending.
There will, presumably, come a time when Netflix stops shelling out hordes of money for the dumbest pieces of filmmaking imaginable. Unfortunately for us, 2019 is not that time.
Buckle up, folks, because today’s deep-cut is a Netflix original thriller called “Velvet Buzzsaw.”
