The win brought the Bears to a perfect 1-0 start under second-year coach Paige Madara.

“When someone is a student of the game and has expertise and enthusiasm, that’s a scary combination,” Director of Athletics Anthony Azama said.

Madara, who played for the Bears from 2009-2013 before serving as an assistant coach from 2013-2015, will replace Kelly Stahlhuth, who resigned in July after 15 seasons leading the team.
