No. 17 men’s basketball advances to Sweet 16 for second year running

Fifteen minutes into the second round of the 2025 NCAA Division III Tournament, No. 17 WashU men’s basketball sat tied 22-22 with Franklin College. When the final buzzer sounded 25 minutes later, WashU was up 29 points and headed to the Sweet 16 for the second time in two years.

Tied 10-10 late in the fourth quarter, the Bears looked to pull off another close win in a season full of them, this time against No. 20 Franklin College.

Football loses playoff game against Franklin College

With temperatures below freezing level on windy Saturday afternoon, the Washington University football fell short to Franklin College 17-7 after Grizzlies’ quarterback Jonny West threw a 35-yard, game-winning touchdown with less than a minute left in the game.
