WashU has been working on plans to develop athletic facilities on nearby Concordia Seminary land for the past year. The University recently withdrew their request for zoning permits and will now evaluate other potential options which could include submitting a new proposal for an overlay district and developing the land under current zoning guidelines.
With the No. 15 women’s team’s 93-35 win, and the No. 2 men’s team’s 107-57 victory later that night, WashU played its final basketball games against its neighbor Fontbonne, which will close after the 2024-25 academic year. Fontbonne’s gym and facilities will soon adorn WashU red and green, when WashU absorbs Fontbonne’s land into its campus over the summer.

Washington University announced that it would purchase Fontbonne University’s campus, March 11.
In a weekend that saw No. 17 Washington University men’s basketball defeat Fontbonne University 96-75 and Principia College 90-56, the Bears’ roster depth shined. Players outside of the starting five contributed a combined 95 points off of the bench across the two games played on Dec. 16 and Dec. 17.
With the victory, the Bears are now 5-4 and post a record above .500 for the first time this season. For the second time all year, they have won back-to-back contests.
