Students and faculty alike have faced many challenges this semester, including mass faculty layoffs, threats of condensing major programs, and general insecurity in the midst of the attack on academia. It’s times like these that we especially need to support and foster community.

Instead of acknowledging WashU’s continued inaction on its students’ desires, Martin makes no meaningful distinction between the protesters’ political goals and the environment that enabled the egging incident.

Instead of taking what happened in BD and the campus response as a way to further divide ourselves, we should take it to consider where we get our information, how we want our campus spaces treated, and how we engage with all members of this community in the future.
