Track UAAs: Men repeat, women take second

For the third straight year, the Washington University men’s track and field team will be bringing in the University Athletic Association trophy. The men’s and women’s teams traveled to Atlanta, Ga. on Friday and Saturday for the 2011 UAA Outdoor Championships, and the men’s team came home with its third straight conference title and 14th overall in the program’s history. The women’s team took second, just behind Emory University.

Bears continue record-breaking season at Rose-Hulman

Two more runners posted school records to help the Washington University men’s track & field team capture second place at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Engineer Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The men’s and women’s teams both took second in the 12-team meet.

Be it individual or team successes, the Washington University men’s and women’s track & field teams both had their share of victories this past weekend at the Washington University Select Meet at Bushyhead Track. The men’s team took first place overall out of the four schools that participated. Meanwhile, four members of the women’s team met NCAA provisional qualifying times at the meet.

Athlete of the Week: Dan Davis

Sophomore Dan Davis started his indoor track season with a provisional qualifying mark in the 55-meter dash. Later in the season, he added a school-record and NCAA provisional-qualifying time in the 55-meter hurdles to his list of accomplishments. Davis has led the men’s track and field team in points in each of its meets this season. These achievements earned him Student Life’s Athlete of the Week award.

Led by graduate student Pierre Hoppenot, senior Chris Malaya and sophomore Dan Davis, the Washington University men’s track and field team took second place at the Rose-Hulman Engineer Invitational this weekend in Terre Haute, Ind., while the women’s team finished third.

Davis and company off to an encouraging start

Sophomore Dan Davis’ NCAA provisional qualifying time of 7.74 seconds in the men’s 55-meter hurdles at the Illinois Wesleyan Triangular meet highlighted a promising start for Washington University’s track and field team. Wash. U. athletes finished in the top three of 35 events.
