On Nov. 11 — a Friday — senior Tori Harwell (they/she) was standing in a room full of Rhodes Scholar finalists in Chicago, waiting for the announcement of the two names that would be awarded the scholarship. It took a lot — of time, energy, and inspiration — for Harwell to be standing in that room. 

Kate and Erin Flynn thought they were done playing soccer together after high school. That wasn’t the case.

The rivalry dates back to the first football game between the schools, in 1933.

With the loss to University of Chicago on Saturday, the Bears gave up sole possession of first place in the UAA.

For the sixth year in a row, the Washington University men’s soccer team lost to No. 6 University of Chicago. The 0-3 loss on Saturday marks the end of the Bear’s season. Wash. U. finished the year with an 8-7-1 record.

After a long and exciting season, it’s nearly playoff time for the Washington University women’s soccer team. Before finding out who they will be facing in the postseason, the Bears rounded out their regular season this past Saturday in the Windy City.

The Washington University women’s soccer team took care of business last weekend when it clinched the University Athletic Association Title. But the Bears’ regular season still has one game left on the schedule: a battle at the University of Chicago on Saturday.

University of Chicago is Wash. U.’s sports rival and volleyball head coach Vanessa Walby’s former school. The team that, last season, beat Wash. U. twice and eliminated them from the UAA conference tournament, and this season continues to best Wash. U.

The Washington University football team kicked off its fall season with a blowout of long-time rival University of Chicago on Saturday, 43-7, winning the teams’ fifth straight matchup and keeping control of the Founders Cup.
