Matt Rush talks Oregon and finishing his final year of college football

In his last year of eligibility with the Washington University football team, graduate student Matt Rush has seen it all since his early days at Francis Olympic. He has progressed from a member of the Junior Varsity squad, to being Washington University starting quarterback for the past 2 seasons as well as being named Second Team All-CCIW twice. During WashU’s opening game of the 2023 season, the graduate student from Hinsdale, Illinois threw for 277 words and registered four touchdowns in the Bears win against Hendrix College in Arkansas.

Football closes season with smooth victory over Carroll, 44-6

The Washington University football team returned home for its final game of the regular season against Carroll University, hosting Senior Day as it conquered the Pioneers with ease, 44-6, Saturday at Francis Field. The Bears jumped ahead early and managed to make quick work of the struggling Carroll team on a cold Saturday afternoon.

The Bears face off against Millikin with the playoffs on the line

The Washington University football team will be making its last push for the play-offs this weekend at Millikin University. Both Millikin and Wash. U are 6-2 and tied for third in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW).

Wash. U. scored on the first four possessions of the second half to show Augustana that they hungered more for the win. The Bears went on to take the game, 38-24.

Football’s rally loses spark in 27-21 loss to Illinois Wesleyan

Though the scoreboard went from 21-7 to 21-21 by the middle of the third quarter Wash. U.’s ferocious comeback ultimately fell short, with the Bears falling 27-21 Sunday at Francis Field as they saw their four-game winning streak come to an end.
