Junior Adam Putterman became the third Washington University men’s tennis player since 2001 to win the USTA/ITA Central Regional Singles Championship on Monday as he defeated Kenyon College’s C.J. Williams 6-4, 6-3 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis.

Putterman broke Williams in the ninth game of the first set and held his serve to take the first set 6-4. Putterman went on to break Williams twice in the second set to take the singles title.

Putterman is now 9-0 on the season in singles matches, and looks to improve on his record at the USTA/ITA Small College Championships in Mobile, Ala. from October 13-16.
