Cross country men place 5th, women 3rd at Rose-Hulman
The Washington University cross country teams competed this past Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology Gibson Family Invitational in Terre Haute, Ind.
The No. 2 men’s team placed fifth in a field of 13 teams, with its top five finishing in the overall top 50. Freshman Tarek Elhage led the way in the 8-km. race with a time of 27:40.1, finishing 22nd overall, and freshman Paul Johnson finished 10 seconds behind in 31st place. Sophomore Jason Dorn, junior Nicolas Carroll and junior Ben Cutting rounded out the top five for the Bears, all finishing in 28:30.1 or less.
The No. 4 women’s squad finished third out of 12 with the team’s top five all placing 22nd or better. A freshman led the women’s squad as well, as Alyssa Tutterow finished 12th overall in the 6-km. race with a time of 24:17.6. Sophomore Lexy Millet placed right behind her three seconds later in 13th, and the team’s third, fourth and fifth place finishers—freshman Gabrielle Reuveni (24:43.9), freshman Lizzy Handschy (24:49.9) and junior Elisabeth Stocking (24:51.7)—all finished within eight seconds of each other to take 20th, 21st and 22nd, respectively.
Both teams will head to Winneconne, Wis., on Saturday, Oct. 16, for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Brooks Invitational.
