Sports pick-up lines

Athletes get all the chicks (or dudes). We all know it. There are a multitude of possible reasons for this phenomenon. People like athletes because they’re always in tip-top shape. They think the letterman jacket looks sexy. But here’s the real reason: people love winners. And as you know, Wash. U. wins a lot at most sports, winning 74.5 percent of its athletic contests in the 2011-12. Think about that: wouldn’t you like a 74.5 percent success rate in the love world?
Naturally, post-game following a great win is a good time to cruise the crowd for potential suitors. And since we do so much coverage of live events, we’ve managed to hear many of the Bears’ smooth pickup lines in action. Here are some of the best ones in each sport.

Football
Wanna be my receiver tonight?
I’m going to go for two after I score.
You’ve got a great end zone.

Soccer
You’re allowed to use your hands in this game.
I can go 90 minutes without stopping.
I won’t give you a yellow card if you take off your shirt.

Basketball
I can score from multiple positions.
You may have heard that I’m a great ballhandler. Want to sample my skills?
Should I take it to the hole or take it to the rack?

Volleyball
Why set and spike when we could just bump uglies?
I’d get on my kneepads for you any day.
I really dig you.

Cross-country/track
I can go on forever; that’s just how I’m designed
Can I hand off my baton to you?
You’ve got more curves than a race track.

Baseball
I wield a big stick.
Your pitch must have hit me because I’m feeling a little faint.
We must be in the bullpen because you’re warming me up.

Softball
Forget third base—let’s just head home.
You aren’t making me soft—that’s for sure.
I understand you like to play with bigger balls…

Golf
Your putt looks great in those jeans.
Bring some friends, and we can play a foursome.
Wanna be my 19th hole today?

Tennis
You can score all the points tonight so I’ll always be in love.
I’m tired of the singles action—how about we play some doubles?
Why don’t you hit my balls with your “rack”et?

Swimming
I perform best when I’m wet.
I can’t swim! Can I hold on to your floaties?
Don’t save me just yet. Let me go down a few times.
