Your guide to the best manicure and pedicure near campus
Adjusting to college is hard in and of itself, but leaving all of your creature comforts back home presents its own challenges. When moving states for college, finding places that feel like home can make the transition a bit easier. For some, it’s a restaurant serving comfort food. For me, it’s nail salons. If you are someone who gets their nails done every four weeks or simply needs a relaxing afternoon and a foot massage, follow this guide to find the perfect spot for you in St. Louis.
- A V Nails & Spa
Located near Plaza Frontenac, a 15-minute drive from campus, A V Nails & Spa reigns supreme amongst the nail salons that St. Louis has to offer. Whether you’re looking for intricate designs or a simple gel manicure, A V is the place to go. On top of that, there seems to be no limit to the colors that are offered, and the staff are always willing and able to help you find the perfect shade. The environment is warm and welcoming, and after just three visits, you will be deemed a “regular” amongst the staff. Prices are reasonable and increase with upgrades and special treatments. A dip manicure with removal ranges from $50-$60, including tip. For the best prices, reasonable distance, and exceptional service, A V should be your first choice.
- Clayton Nail Spa
Clayton Nail Spa offers a very professional and clean experience, and is one of the closest nail salons to the South 40. Prices tend to be a bit higher at this salon, with a gel manicure starting at $40 and an additional $2 credit card fee. However, Clayton Nail Spa is consistent and timely with their services. Located closer to campus next to the Schnucks off of Big Bend and Clayton Road, Clayton Nail Spa is easily accessible and even walking distance from campus. If you prioritize accessibility and are looking for a simple mani and pedi, this is the place for you.
- Ladue Nails & Spa
Ladue Nails & Spa is another nearby option, just two miles from the Danforth University Center. While this is not my top recommendation, Ladue Nails & Spa gets the job done. Prices are comparable to Clayton Nail Spa, but not always worth it when you have the option of A V or Clayton Nails Spa. The location is a bit cramped compared to the other salons, so it’s not the best if you are going with your girlfriends, but perfect for a solo date. The staff is friendly and efficient with their time. While not my first or second option, Ladue is a great choice in a pinch.
