On May 18, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD) confirmed the identity of a body recovered from the Mississippi River last week as missing student Antonio Arellano-Banda. He was 20.

Arellano-Banda was a member of WashU’s Class of 2028 and a mechanical engineering student in the McKelvey School of Engineering. He was first reported missing on May 7.

According to Fox 2, the body was recovered on May 13 along the Mississippi River in the Carondelet neighborhood.

An official cause of death is still being investigated by the medical examiner’s office. SLMPD does not believe foul play was involved.

This is a developing story that will be updated as we receive more information.
