Student found deceased in Rubelmann

Freshman Elizabeth Barry was found deceased this afternoon in her bed in Rubelmann Hall, according to a statement sent out by Washington University.

University Police arrived at Rubelmann at 5:30 p.m. while the cause of death is unknown as of now, police reported that the death appeared to be of natural causes. Police were called to the floor by Barry’s roommate.

The St. Louis County medical examiner has visited the scene, and police have notified Barry’s parents, residents of the Chicago suburb of Flossmoor, of the death.

The Office of Residential Life has set up a telephone line for those seeking support, and staff of the Habif Health and Wellness Center is available for counseling.

Students wishing to access the telephone line should call 314-935-6695.

“The University community is greatly saddened by this tragic loss and our heartfelt sympathies go out to Elizabeth’s family and friends,” the University’s statement read.
