Dear Washington University community, 

On April 1, we transitioned into the role of Editors-in-Chief for the 2023-24 academic year. As two juniors who have been on the paper since our freshman year, we come from different journalistic backgrounds. Clara has spent two years as an editor of the sports section –– racking up nearly 200 bylines, including photos, and diligently covering the University’s Division III athletic teams and student-athletes. Via has headed the Scene section, reporting some of the paper’s most-read stories of 2022. Together, we’re incredibly excited to step up into this new role.  

Through the past year of Julia Robbins’ tenure, she has helped re-establish the community of Student Life. Under her leadership, the paper has flourished in both community and content, and we want to build on that foundation.

Going forward, we have a few goals for the next 12 months. We want to continue consistent and fair reporting on parties in charge –– both the administration and student-led governing bodies. We also want to provide a platform for a diverse set of voices in our community and to reflect the multitudes of identities and opinions that exist on campus. We hope that you click on that email that pops into your inbox each morning and learn more about the people and organizations that surround you at WashU. We also hope that you see yourself and those like you represented in our reporting. 

To accomplish this, we want to be accessible to the student body. We rely on feedback and engagement to add perspectives that we don’t currently have on our team.
