Washington University’s class of 2021, in many ways, appears strikingly similar to its predecessor.

Before I came back to school, I went to see the New York Times documentary “Page One.” The standout figure of the film was columnist David Carr, whose gravelly-voiced, eloquent opinions about Twitter made it clear to me that my decision to join earlier this year didn’t mean I had “succumbed” to tweeting.

New York Times columnist and human rights activist Nicholas Kristof will be speaking on Monday at 4 p.m. in Graham Chapel. The reporter, a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for journalism, is an outspoken advocate for human rights. His talk will center on topics raised in his latest book, Half the Sky: Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide.
