Women’s Basketball:

Last Game: Wash U 55, Brandeis University 59

Team Notes: Senior guard Kelly Manning scored a team-high 20 points and a pair of potentially game-winning free throws with a little more than a minute to play. However, Brandeis quickly bounced back and closed out the game in the last minute. Senior center Hallie Hutchens finished with 10 points and 14 rebounds. Of the 14 rebounds, eight were off the offensive glass. The Bears were outshot on the free throw line by a margin of 24 to 7.

Did You Know: The Bears could have moved into sole posession of first place with a win against Brandeis.

Next Game: Wash U at Emory University on Friday, Feb. 13th at 5:00 p.m.

Swimming & Diving:

Last Meet: Women’s squad finished in first place (of seven teams) at WU Invitational at Millstone Pool and the men’s squad finished third.

Team Notes: The swim team journeyed to the University of Chicago on Wednesday to compete for the University Athletic Association (UAA) Championships.

Next Meet: UAA Championships on Feb. 10-12 in Chicago, Ill.

Men’s Basketball:

Last Game: Wash U 80, Brandeis University 65

Team Notes: Freshman forward Troy Ruths who put up a strong effort in the previous game against NYU, contributed 18 points off the bench. The Bears bench outscored the Brandeis bench by a margin of 46 to 14. Ruths shot an amazing eight for ten from the field in just 19 minutes of play. In addition to Ruths, four other Bears finished the game with points in double figures.

Did You Know: Senior Anthony Hollins moved to eighth all-time in career blocks with 2 blocks on Sunday.

Next Game: Wash U at Emory University on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m.

Track & Field:

Last Meet: The women’s squad finished sixth overall and the men’s squad finished ninth overall at the Titan Open, which was hosted by Illinois Wesleyan University.

Team Notes: On the men’s side, junior David Skiba posted a Wash U. season-best in the 55-meter hurdles with a blazing time of 7.81 seconds. Senior Lance Moen also posted a season-best in the 400 to finish fourth in the event. On the women’s side, junior Michelle McCully finished in fifth place in the 400 and junior Laura Ehret posted a season-best time in the 800 to finish second in her event.

Next Meet: Wash U at the Illinois College Invitational in Jacksonville, Illinois on Feb. 12.
